Joining the library
Library members can use any of Wirral’s 24 libraries free of charge.
To join all you have to do is complete a simple form and provide proof of your name and address. You can do this online or at any library in Wirral.
Complete the online application form and your library card will be ready for you next time you visit the library (please leave 24hrs before collecting). Under 18s must be accompanied to the library by a parent/guardian in order to sign their Joining Form.
You’ll be given a computerised credit-card style ticket, which can be used at any of the libraries in Wirral.
Once you have your library card you'll be able supplied with a website PIN number to give you access to a range of online services including:
- Renewing books
- Reserving books
- Downloading free eBooks and eAudiobooks
- Check your account history and renewal dates
- Access a range of FREE online reference resources
You can borrow books for up to 3 weeks at a time and, unless another reader wants them, renew them either in person, by post, by telephone or via this website. If you return your books late, you may have to pay a fine.
Finding Books, DVDs audiobooks or CDs
You can search our catalogue on this website to check if the item you want is available for loan. Just type the name of the book, DVD, audiobook or CD that you're looking for into the search bar on the right hand side of any page in the libraries section of this website. Once you have found the item that you want you can also reserve it online.
If you cannot find the book you want, we will do our best to obtain it for you.
You can request items such as books, journals, sets of plays, vocal and orchestral scores.
If we do not have what you want in stock, we may buy the item you require or if possible borrow a copy from either the British Lending Library or another library in the UK. There is a small fee for this service, and a supplementary charge is payable if we have to borrow the item from another library outside Wirral.
