Read Yourself Well

Library userRead Yourself Well is a collection of material which provides information on medical conditions, treatments, mental health, alternative therapies, healthy living and more.

Books, leaflets and CDs are available at Beechwood, Birkenhead Central, Leasowe, Moreton and St. James Libraries, as part of a project to make health information more widely available.  You can download the Reading List to see what's available.

We offer:

  • A wide range of books on various health-related subjects.
  • Relaxation and self-help CDs.
  • Information on local support groups and services.

Anyone can use the collection as long as they have a library card. If not, don't worry - just come along to Beechwood, Birkenhead Central, Leasowe, Moreton or St. James library and you can join and use the collection straight away. Trained, friendly staff will be on hand should you require any help.

Why read yourself well?

Self-help books can be used in conjunction with prescribed medication, counselling or therapy, or just on their own. They can provide information about specific problems and suggest strategies for coping.

They can be read at a pace to suit the reader, enabling them to manage health problems and improve their quality of life.
