Other Arts and Museums
Wirral Council is not the only body operating arts & museums venues in Wirral.
In Port Sunlight, National Museums Liverpool have the beautiful Lady Lever Art Gallery and just across the road there is the Port Sunlight Museum.
In New Brighton Fort Perch Rock is a privately-owned early 19th century gun emplacement with museum displays, especially of WW2 aircraft wreckage.
In West Kirby, attached to St Bridget’s church, is the Charles Dawson Brown Museum with Viking and other carved stones. This is currently under development as a Heritage Centre.
There are a number of private art gallery spaces showing contemporary work, mostly by local artists, often as part of a shop selling framing of artwork.
Local theatres, heavily used by amateur theatre and musical groups, include the Little Theatre, Grange Road, Birkenhead; the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight; Heswall Hall and Pacific Road Arts Centre. Each of these is run by a different organisation and each would be available to hire by arrangement with the management.
