Concerts

The Williamson Art Gallery & Museum and Birkenhead Priory have been popular concert venues for many years. The Williamson houses a fine Steinway ‘B’ concert grand piano.

Concerts and workshops are promoted by Wirral Council as part of the International Guitar Festival, mostly in November, ticket & programme details from the Floral Pavilion box-office.

The Friends of the Williamson have since 1986 presented their own series of concerts, The Sunday Serenades, usually between May and September. They are mostly classical, vocal or chamber music, using many highly-trained local musicians and students. The concerts are at 3pm on Sundays and are free, followed by light refreshments; donations are welcome.

During August the Sunday Serenades are presented at Birkenhead Priory: please note, there are steps to the concert venue at the Priory which may make access difficult for some visitors.

Programmes are available from the Williamson or Priory.

In addition, it is possible to hire the Williamson Art Gallery, and the piano if required, for public or private concerts. Hire charges available on request.
