Working and living in Wirral

With glorious countryside, bustling towns, picturesque villages and traditional seaside resorts, the Wirral Peninsular offers a great range of places to live in the North West of England.

The Irish Sea to the North of the borough provides wide open vistas across one of Europe’s most important nature conservation sites.

To the south lies Cheshire and the historic city of Chester, which is just a short journey away by road or one of the frequent train services.

Sweeping along its eastern edge is the mighty River Mersey with views across to the vibrant city of Liverpool – one of Europe’s cultural capitals.

The western border is marked by the River Dee with North Wales and its dramatic scenery and historic towns and villages just beyond.

As you would expect from an area which has one of the ten largest metropolitan populations in the country, Wirral can provide an excellent range of housing, shopping and leisure opportunities.

Education standards in Wirral are above average, and a higher than average proportion of secondary schools and special schools in Wirral are good or outstanding.

The borough also has a higher proportion of good and very good primary schools than most other local authorities, and most of its special schools are outstanding.
