Home Ownership Using Sustainable Empty Dwellings (HOUSED) scheme
What is HOUSED?
HOUSED stands for Home Ownership Using Sustainable Empty Dwellings. It is a scheme whereby Wirral Council acquires a small number of properties, refurbishes them to a high standard and then offers them for sale (certain conditions apply). We can also offer a 10% grant towards the purchase price, again conditions apply.
The previous phases of HOUSED have been extremely successful with all but one of the properties acquired refurbished and sold in the first three phases of HOUSED.
If you are interested in purchasing any of properties developed in phase three of the scheme or any of the properties to be developed in phase 4 of the scheme then please download an application form or call the Empty Property team on 0151 691 8005.
The properties are renovated to a high standard incorporating brand new kitchens, bathroom suites, double glazing and a complete central heating system.
All of the properties meet Ecohomes and Secured by Design standards.
Can I get help with applying for the scheme?
The Council’s Homemovers Team has Home Ownership Advisory Officers who will provide you with any support you may need, to help you become a home owner (subject to eligibility).
They will help you by:
• Referring you to an Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) who can provide you with mortgage advice
• Directing you to support services, if required.
How do I find out more or apply for one of these properties?
Download a HOUSED Scheme leaflet or contact us using the details on the right of this page.
What will happen next?
If there is more than one application for a particular property we will then shortlist applicants. If you have been successful for Shortlisting, you will then be contacted, to arrange a property viewing.
