Homelessness review
The Homelessness Act 2002 required all Local Authorities to publish a Homelessness Strategy based on a comprehensive Review of Homelessness every five years. This review should be taken into account when the Authority is carrying out its functions.
A comprehensive review of homelessness services was carried out in January 2007. The findings and recommendations of the Review informed the development of the Wirral Homelessness Strategy (2008-2010).
The review was conducted over a four month period from March 2007 and comprised of a desk top review, direct consultation with individual stakeholders, focus, groups of service providers, and residents and two postal surveys.
Wirral Council will be developing a new Homeless Strategy with partners during 2011 and 2012. This will be informed and shaped by a further comprehensive Review of Homelessness and Homeless Services which will be carried out by GLHS Ltd. The review will involve the Council, key agencies who provide homeless services in Wirral and service users to make sure the strategy is reflective of local needs.
The review will be conducted between November 2011 and March 2012. Please note that the Online surveys conducted as part of the review have now closed.
