How to access Extra Care Housing

First you need to decide if you wish to rent or part-buy a property through New Build HomeBuy. You will also need to have an assessment of your care needs by the Department of Adult Social Services. An application form will need to be completed providing details of your housing and care needs.

If you wish to rent an extra care property, please contact Wirralhomes to register on 0151 691 8040 or email wirralhomesenq@wirral.gov.uk.

The New Build Homebuy scheme allows you to buy an extra care property, at a percentage of the full market value, usually 50% or 75%. If you would like to take advantage of this scheme you should contact the Registered Social Landlord that manages the scheme. A list of landlords is given in the table on the Extra Care Housing in Wirral page.

You can also go to the Homeshub website.

It is recommended that you gain independent financial advice if you are thinking of buying or selling your home.

Age Concern can help you to access independent financial advice and can be contacted on 0800 169 2700

If you are thinking of moving into extra care housing it is important to find out exactly what it will cost you.  You may qualify for benefits to meet all or part of the costs. You would also need an assessment of your care needs by the Department of Adult Social Services.

For information and advice please contact the Central Advice and Duty Team using the details on the right of this page.

The team is able to provide general information and advice and where appropriate take referrals for detailed enquiries and requests for a service.
