Municipal Waste Strategy
Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority has been working in partnership with the five local councils on Merseyside to develop a Joint Recycling and Waste Management Strategy (JRWMS).
The JRWMS sets out the guiding principles for the delivery of the waste management service in Merseyside, over the period 2008 - 2020. The overall aims of the Strategy are:
- To improve the sustainability of municipal waste produced on Merseyside using the waste hierachy, and
- To continuously improve the services we provide in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and economy
The strategy looks at all aspects of waste management and encourages the development of:
- New and effective methods of waste prevention, recycling and recovering value from the waste which cannot be recycled
- New waste management facilities for recycling and recovering value from waste and a continuing process of obtaining value and quality while best serving the communities and residents of Merseyside.
