Presenting your bin for collection (Section 46 EPA)

Please ensure your bin is presented at the kerbside or designated collection point by 7am on your collection day.

  • Ensure that your bins are labelled with your street name and number and presented for collection with the lid closed.
  • Store your bins on your own property at all times other than on collection day.
  • Following collection, return emptied bins back onto your own property at the earliest opportunity.
  • Don’t dump or leave waste that you cannot fit into your wheelie bin at the side of your wheelie bin, or in an alley on collection day.

Excess waste should be taken to one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC),  located at Bidston Moss in Birkenhead, Greenbank Road in West Kirby or Mount Road in Clatterbridge. Before visiting your HWRC please check if you will need a permit.

Alternatively you can arrange for the collection of some bulky items through the ERIC Service by contacting Streetscene.

  • Don’t contaminate your recycling bins and garden waste bins by putting the wrong waste or items in them.

Where any person is found to have not secured their waste, the Council can serve a legal Notice in accordance with Section 46 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

If you do not have a green and/or grey wheelie bin, you should contact Streetscene on 0151 606 2004 where the appropriate bins may be purchased. If your wheelie bin is lost or stolen on the day of collection, you must report it to Streetscene by 5pm on the next working day after collection.

Full details of the charges for bins for the financial year 2010/11 can be found on the bin charges web page.

*Where sites have or need communal larger bins then the same principals of the rules above apply.
