What is a PDF?

Core Strategy development plan

The Core Strategy DPD will set out the Council’s long term vision, objectives and spatial strategy for the Borough.

The preparation of the Core Strategy began in July 2005. Information on the stages completed so far is set out below:

SEA determination

Consultation on the need for an additional environmental report was undertaken in August 2005. The Council determined that an additional environmental report will be required.

Sustainability Appraisal

The Council consulted on the scope of the Sustainability Appraisal for the Core Strategy in July 2006. The final date for comments was 22 September 2006.

Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report

The final Scoping Report was agreed in July 2007.

The scope of the Sustainability Appraisal has since been reassessed and amended as each stage in the preparation of the Core Strategy has been reached (see below).

Initial Consultation

Initial consultation took place in October 2005. The final date for consultation was 2 December 2006. A series of public workshops were held in November 2006 and a series of meetings with under-represented groups was undertaken during Summer 2007.

Consultation on Issues, Vision and Objectives

The Council consulted on the Issues, Vision and Objectives to be contained within the Core Strategy in February 2009. The deadline for comments was 27th March 2009.

Consultation on Spatial Options

The Council consulted on the Spatial Options for the Core Strategy in January 2010. The deadline for comments was 5.00pm on Friday 5th March 2010.

Consultation on Preferred Options

The Council began consultation on the Preferred Options for the Core Strategy in November 2010. The deadline for comments was 5.00pm on Friday 7^th January 2011. The associated documents can be viewed below:

Results from the consultation will be used to inform the next stage of the Core Strategy (Publication Draft) and can be viewed here.

Additional Consultation on Settlement Area Policies

Consultation began on eight draft Settlement Area Policies in January 2012. The deadline for comments was 5.00pm on Monday 12 March 2012. The associated documents can be viewed below:
