Climate Week
Climate Week - One week to show how we can combat climate change - 12th to 18th March 2012.
Climate Week is Britain’s biggest climate change campaign, inspiring a new wave of action to create a sustainable future.
Culminating in a week of activities, it showcases practical solutions from every sector of society.
The first Climate Week in March 2011 saw half a million people attending 3,000 events in Britain’s biggest ever environmental occasion. Events were run by schools, businesses, charities, councils and many others.
In Wirral, this year’s Climate Week Challenge will be held at Greenleas Primary School on Monday 12th March. Greenleas were last year’s successful winners and therefore they were delighted to be this years host school. Ten local primary schools will attend Greenleas and take part in this year’s challenge. The exact challenge will be revealed on the day. Thousands of people from other schools, youth clubs and workplaces will be tackling the same task on the same day and contributing different answers the same problem.
Wirral's Mayor will host the event. We have a prestigious panel of judges. At the end of the challenge all the children’s ideas will be reviewed by Wirral’s judging panel and the winning entry will be put forward to represent Wirral at a national level. The Climate Week national judging panel will then select regional and national winners.
Climate Week is a national occasion that offers an annual renewal of our ambition and confidence to combat climate change. It is for everyone wanting to do their bit to protect our planet and create a secure future.
Further information on the week is available from the Climate Week website.
