Purpose of the exercise:

We want to hear your views on the future of transport in Merseyside

The consultation on the Preferred Strategy for the Third Local Transport Plan (LTP3) was launched at the Merseyside Transport Partnership’s latest Breakfast Briefing on 8th September 2010.

The goals we have set out in the Preferred Strategy are as follows;

• To ensure the transport system supports the priorities of the Liverpool City Region and its Local Strategic Partnerships.

• To provide and promote a clean and low carbon transport system.

• To ensure the transport system promotes and enables improved health and wellbeing

• To ensure the transport system allows people to connect easily with employment, services and social activities

• To ensure the transport network supports the economic success of the Liverpool City Region by the efficient movement of people and goods

• To maintain our assets to a high standard

Who will be consulted and how:

The consultation aims to engage as many sectors and people as possible. These views will be used to help shape LTP3, which will be in place by April 2011.

Who will the results of the exercise be reported to:

The results of the consultation exercise will be reported to Cabinet early in 2011, and will be used to develop the final Local Transport Plan which will be in place by April 2011.

What were the results of the exercise:

What changes to the service will take place as a result of the exercise:

The views collected will be used to help shape LTP3, which will be in place by April 2011. Details of the Third Local Transport Plan will be available to view from the Travelwise website.
