Consultation summary: To consult with the public on the various options to ensure that the revised strategy reflects the views and aspirations of the wider community.

Start date: 5th October. Specific face to face survey with residents in Wirral will be 12 October to 6 November.

End date: December.

Aim of consultation:

The Merseyside and Halton Waste Partnership is currently updating the Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy (JMWMS) for 2012 – 2030 which will set new targets and objectives of how waste is dealt with in Merseyside. In addition to considering legislation and policy changes, it will also look at strategic options and mechanisms for future service delivery. Earlier this year, officers from Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority & individual collection authorities and council members, discussed and agreed a number of strategic options and mechanisms. The Partnership now wishes to undertake a comprehensive public consultation on these options to ensure that the revised strategy reflects the views and aspirations of the wider community.

Who will be consulted and how:

Residents will be consulted, via face to face survey, focus groups and e-consultation.

The Waste Strategy is avaiable to view and download from the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority's website. 

Who will the results of the exercise be reported to:

A full report will be provided to Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority. Summary results via a newsletter and website will be available for the public.

What were the results of the exercise:

Results will be available from early February 2011.

At the end of the consultation, MWDA will be issuing a newsletter which will explain the findings and the next stages. The newsletter will be available to download from their website – www.dontwasteyoursay.org/ 

What changes to the service will take place as a result of the exercise:

These will be reported following completion of the exercise.
