Data Protection Act
The Data Protection Act 1998 applies to all organisations and gives everyone the right of access to information held about them (known as Personal Data).
It puts a legal requirement on organisations to ensure that all Personal Data held, in whatever format, is properly managed and not disclosed to third parties inappropriately.
Because Wirral Council collects, uses, stores and destroys Personal Data – information on living individuals – we must comply with the Data Protection Act 1998.
