Equality Act 2010
Equality Duty 2010 – Publishing Customer and Workforce Information
Customer Equality Profiling:
A requirement of the Equality Duty 2010 is for the Council to publish information relating to people affected by our policies and decisions (i.e. customers), who share protected characteristics (gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion / belief, gender re-assignment, marriage / civil partnership).
The information to be published includes:
- Who accesses our services?
- What reasonable adjustments are provided to customers to access our services?
- How satisfied are customers with our services?
- What feedback do customers give us?
- What is the number and type of complaints we receive from customers?
- Do we have different service outcomes for different groups of people?
This requires major developments to our Customer Relations Management (CRM) system, and therefore we are publishing an action plan highlighting how we will ensure we can collect, analyse and use appropriate information.

Workforce Equality Profiling:
Another requirement of the Equality Duty 2010 is for the Council to publish information relating to our workforce, people who share protected characteristics (gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion / belief, gender re-assignment, marriage / civil partnership, pregnancy / maternity).
The information to be published includes:
- Workforce equality profiles

- Job application success rates
- Take up rates of training
- Promotion success rates
- Return to work rates after maternity leave
- Reasons for termination of employment
- Length of service

This information is currently being updated via a new staff survey, and we will publish the results in the near future.

The Equality Watch Single Equality Scheme 2009-2012 is the Council’s equality and diversity action plan.
The Equality Watch Scheme details the actions that will be taken across the whole council to eliminate any discriminatory practices and to promote equality and recognise diversity within employment and service delivery. The scheme also provides a framework for the Council to achieve ‘Excellent’ status within the Equality Framework for Local Government.
The scheme is currently under review, this will be extended to include all ‘protected groups’ under the Public Sector Equality Duty 2011.
