Hate crime

Wirral operates a Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Committee (MARAC) to provide a co-ordinated approach to increasing confidence in the reporting of hate-related incidents in Wirral and in doing so it identifies areas of concern that can be monitored and responded to in order to tackle such incidents.

Hate-related incidents include those around disability, race, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation and age; this co-ordinated approach is led by the Joint Community Safety Team.

All incidents are recorded and monitored on a multi-agency web based database which is developed and supported by the Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership’s Information, Communication & Evaluation Team.

In the first instance any incident of harassment should be reported to the Police. Alternately, calling into any council one stop shop, housing office, payment office or call (0151) 606 2020.
