Integrated Youth Support

Integrated youth support (IYS) is a national framework that brings together the wide range of statutory and voluntary organisations and agencies that provide information, guidance, help and support for young people aged 13 – 19 and up to 25 for those with additional needs.

The framework outlines how services should be delivered, and the processes and culture change required to enable organisations and agencies to work together effectively.

All services for young people, universal, targeted or specialist, are contributing to the delivery of integrated youth support. That is why workers, volunteers and managers from across the health sector, youth justice, social care, education, youth and Connexions service, district/borough authority services, the voluntary sector and the Police, are currently integrating their work around the needs and circumstances of young people.

Wirral Youth Hubs

Wirral's four new Youth Hubs opened in June 2010. They were created after consultation with young people revealed that they wanted better youth club provision, open at better times. They also said that they wouldn't mind travelling a bit further if the provision was better.

Activities at the Youth Hubs include MCing, music, drama, dance, sports, and a range of support services. They also aim to provide new chances and opportunities for local young people and help to tackle some of their problems including training, education, and health needs.

They provide a safe space for young people to socialise as well as take advantage of the advice and other services available.

The four Youth Hubs are:

Birkenhead Youth Hub
