Clerks to Governing Bodies

Welcome to the Clerk to Governors Area.

Every governing body requires the services of a good clerk.

Their role is a very important one that helps the governing body to carry out their work effectively and efficiently.

The clerk's role is wide and varied and training for clerks is offered termly by the Governor Support Service.

When a new clerk is appointed they will receive a welcome letter and information pack with an invitation to attend training in order to support them in their role. They are also invited to attend the termly cluster group meetings. These meetings are held to provide support for clerks who may sometimes feel isolated in their role, it is also an opportunity for clerks to network and discuss good working practices together.

Community Governors
Being a school governor is demanding but rewarding and a good way of putting something into your local community. Community governors are people who are committed to the good governance and success of the school, whether or not they live or work in the community served by the school. You can download a form to Apply to become a Community Governor.
