Sexual Entertainment Venue Policy

On 10 January 2011, Members of the Health and Safety and General Purposes Committee approved the adoption of the amendments to Schedule 3 of The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, made by Section 27 paragraph 2(2) of Schedule 3 to the Policing and Crime Act 2009, so that the provision will come into force on the 1 April 2011.

The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 Schedule 3 allows the Council to control by way of its licensing regime, sex establishments in the form of sex cinemas and sex shops.

Members of the Health and Safety and General Purposes Committee have agreed to put in place an appropriate policy to deal with applications for both sex establishments and sexual entertainment venues.

Attached is the Draft Sexual Entertainment Venue Policy and views are now invited from you on the terms of that policy. 

The Council welcomes the views of any interested parties and you should feel free to draw the attention of this document to others who may be interested in responding to the consultation.
