Birkenhead
Work was completed on the new Asda store in Birkenhead in Autumn 2011 and represented a £30million investment in the town centre.
The new store is built on land at Grange Road / Oliver Street, and is 90,000 square feet fronting onto Grange Road so as to maximise the regeneration benefits to the town centre as a whole.

Economic Benefits
- The development represents an overall investment of £30million in Birkenhead town centre
- 95 jobs were created during construction
- 320 jobs will be created by the third year of the store’s operation.
- £2.9million will be injected into the local economy through post tax salaries
- The finished store contains a restaurant, deli, bakery, pharmacy and George clothing department
- 692 car park spaces will be available which will be almost 250 more spaces than previously available at the Claughton Road car parks
- The store opens from 7am – 10pm Mon to Sat and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays
In wider regeneration terms the improvement of the town centre retail ‘core’ that a major store bring to this location are massive and the development will hopefully act as a catalyst for further regeneration and investment in the area. The physical appearance - public realm and pedestrian walkways have been significantly improved in this part of Birkenhead as a result of this development.
