Tidy Business Conference 23rd March 2011

All businesses were invited to the Wirral Tidy Business Conference in March to learn more about their legal responsibilities for waste disposal and learn more about the Tidy Business scheme.

The Tidy Business scheme can help businesses to

• save money

• avoid fines

• improve the environment and image of your area

• enhance your reputation and standing in the local community

The scheme is free to join and ensures that business managers are aware of their legal responsibilities. It also rewards businesses that manage their waste properly and improve the appearance of their local environment.

The Wirral Tidy Business event, organised by Wirral Council’s Waste Strategy and Recycling team, aimed to help businesses across Wirral to become recognised under the national Tidy Business Award Scheme.

The event included presentations and workshops by the Council’s trade waste officer, tidy business coordinator and representatives from Keep Britain Tidy. Experts were also be on hand throughout the day to offer advice on reducing costs through managing business waste efficiently. Award presentations were made to businesses that have already achieved various levels of award.

The Tidy Business scheme plays an ever-increasing part in the Council’s efforts to create a cleaner, safer, greener Wirral, by working with the business community through education and encouragement instead of enforcement.
