Tidy Business Awards

Wirral Council works with ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ to promote the Tidy Business Awards to educate, encourage and reward good environmental practice in businesses.

The scheme encourages businesses to implement initiatives for waste minimisation, reuse and recycling schemes, and practical efforts to improve the local environment.

This includes ensuring they store and dispose of their waste responsibly and take ownership of their shop frontages to help keep them free of litter and graffiti.

Businesses that sign up to the tidy business standards are assessed by the Council’s Trade Waste Officer and, if they are successful, are awarded one of three categories; Bronze, Silver or Gold.

Successful businesses are awarded a certificate and window sticker. They are periodically reassessed  to make sure they continue to follow satisfactory environmental practices to reach the Tidy Business Standards.

For those businesses not meeting the grade, the Trade Waste Officer will work with them, free of charge, to improve their waste management practices and meet their statutory obligations.

Officers will continue to work closely with all the businesses that choose to engage in this voluntary scheme, helping them to reach the highest award level possible.

By working together, the Council and businesses can ensure that the local environment is clean, pleasant and safe for residents.

Wirral Businesses that would like to get involved in the voluntary scheme should contact the Council’s Trade Waste Officer, at Streetscene.
