How to pay your Council Tax
Paying in instalments
2013/14 Council Tax bills can be paid in 10 or 12 monthly instalments.
If you wish to pay in 12 instalments (April 2013 to March 2014) the April instalment must be paid as detailed on your Council Tax bill. Please contact us and we will send you a new notice with revised instalments to March 2014. The instalments will be calculated on the remaining months in a financial year ending March.
All methods of payment except direct debit may take up to five days to reach your account.
Online Payments
Accounts can be paid online with most major credit or debit cards.
Telephone Payments
To make a payment by debit or credit card at anytime, please call (0151) 606 2345.
Direct Debit
By far the best way to pay Council Tax is by Direct Debit, and now you don't even need to complete any forms to do so. Just apply on line or call 0151 606 2002 and have your bank details ready.
Choice of dates are available if you pay by direct debit - you can choose the 5th, 12th, 20th or 28th of each month.
If you prefer, you can print a mandate which can be returned in the post to the address on the form. Once we have received your instruction, we will make arrangements with your bank and send you a revised bill. The first monthly instalment under the Direct Debit plan will always be at least 10 working days after we send you the bill.
If you are a current Direct Debit payer and need to change your Direct Debit details, call 0151 606 2002 and have your Council Tax account number and bank details ready.
Online Banking
Customers can use their online banking facilities to pay their instalments.
The Council’s banking details are as follows:

Please quote your Council Tax Reference Number (8 digits long starting with an 8 or 9) which is detailed on your bill or reminder.
