Data Protection and Council Tax

Information that persons provide to Wirral Council will be processed in accordance with the provisions of the Data protection Act 1998.

As an Authority we have a duty to protect the public funds, which we administer and we may use the information held for the prevention and detection of fraud. This may include, but not be limited to matching Council data with electoral registration records. The Council may also use the information that is provided for the purpose of performing any of its statutory enforcement duties.

When necessary the Council may share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing and administering public funds.
