What is Nationality Checking?

If you are applying for British citizenship nationality checking involves:

  • checking that your application has been completed correctly
  • ensuring that you submit all the required documents such as passports, certificates and proof of English proficiency
  • certifying your supporting documents
  • sending your application(s) to the Home Office by special delivery post

The aim of the service is to help reduce unnecessary delays in the process of applying for British Citizenship. It is a fact that applications to the Home Office that contain all the necessary information and correct documents tend to be resolved more quickly than those that are incomplete.

Wirral Register Office is not part of the Nationality Checking Service (NCS).  

The nearest service is provided by Liverpool City Council’s Register Office.
