2001 Census data

Background	Information about how the 2001 Census was conducted. There's also a word of caution about comparing the 2001 Census with the 1991 Census
Data for Wirral Borough	Key statistics for the entire Wirral Borough. We also have some more-detailed information for Wirral Borough.
Data for (new) Wards - interactive map of Wards	These are estimates calculated using key statistics from the Census.
Data for Townships - interactive map of Townships	Wirral has been divided into 48 'Townships', and these are used by various Council Departments. The signposts you see alongside the roads, saying 'Caldy', 'Bebington', etc. are marking Township boundaries, and many people include the Township in their address. The Township boundaries do not match Ward boundaries, but are much smaller than Wards.

	Link to The Office of National Statistics 2001 Census Neighbourhood Statistics web pages. Masses of information here, for many topics, for geographic areas ranging from the UK down to 'Output Areas' (around 125 households). However, the site is not particularly easy to use.
