Councillor Geoffrey Watt is a life-long resident of West Kirby and was educated at Kingsmead School, Hoylake and Dean Close School, Cheltenham.
After leaving school, Geoffrey worked in branch banking in Liverpool and Wirral, then estate agency in Birkenhead and cotton administration in Liverpool. He is a Past Commodore of Hoylake Sailing Club where he has been an active competitor from the age of nine, racing the local classic ‘Opera’ Class boats. He is also a regular supporter from the touchline at Caldy Rugby Club and a season ticket holder at Sale Sharks in Rugby Union’s Premiership.
Geoffrey and Anne married in 1983 and have a daughter and son, both now in the final year at their universities.
Geoffrey was first elected to the Council in 1999 and since 2004 has served as a member for West Kirby & Thurstaston Ward, including Caldy, Grange and Newton. He has held various roles and responsibilities including as inaugural Chairman of the original West Wirral Area Forum and twice as Chairman of Wirral’s Pensions Committee, which oversees the investment and administration of the £8bn Merseyside Pension Fund.
Anne is also a life-long West Kirby resident. She was educated at Avalon School, Upton Hall School and Birkenhead Technical College, where she studied legal and secretarial skills, eventually becoming personal assistant to senior partners in a leading Liverpool law firm. Latterly, she has been a dedicated wife and mother, supporting Geoffrey in his role as a local councillor. She enjoys gardening, baking, walking and visiting historic homes and gardens.
