Grey bins are for recycling.

Collections

Bins are collected every other week. Check your bin collection date and view or download calendar.

Items allowed in your grey bin:

  • cans (drinks and food)
  • card
  • cardboard boxes
  • cardboard packaging
  • catalogues
  • cereal boxes
  • corrugated card
  • cosmetic bottles (glass and plastic)
  • egg boxes (card)
  • envelopes (you don't need to remove the plastic window)
  • fabric conditioner bottles
  • glass bottles and jars (tops can be put back on)
  • greeting cards
  • junk mail (removed from any plastic bags)
  • magazines (removed from any plastic bags)
  • medicine bottles plastic and glass (empty)
  • metal jar lids
  • newspapers
  • paper (not shredded)
  • pizza boxes (clean - no grease or food)
  • plastic bottle tops
  • plastic bottles (including milk bottles)
  • shampoo and shower gel bottles
  • telephone directories and Yellow Pages
  • toilet roll tubes
  • unused wallpaper 
  • washing powder boxes
  • wrapping paper (not foil)
  • bleach bottles
  • cleaning bottles
  • soap and toothpaste boxes

Report a missed grey bin collection

If your grey wheelie bin has not been collected by 5:00pm on your collection day, you can report it to us as missed.

Putting your bin out for collection

  • put your bins out at the kerbside by 7am on the day of collection with the wheels facing the road
  • all rubbish must be in the bin and the lid must be closed. No additional waste will be collected
  • the bin should not be too heavy
  • after your collection bring your bin back onto your property as soon as possible
  • incorrect items should not be in your bin. See items allowed in your bin:

If you live in a flat or apartment

If you live in a flat or apartment, contact your landlord or property management company for details about your bin collections.

If your waste is collected in sacks

You will remain on a weekly general rubbish and recycling collection service.
