Primary pupils enjoy Wirral's first ever music workshop for deaf primary-age children

10 Apr 2008

DID you know that music can be enjoyed by all deaf children, regardless of the level of their hearing loss?

Now primary schoolchildren from all over Wirral will have the chance to make their own music at a special day of music-making next month, organised by the Council's Hearing Support Service.

The event is a first for primary age children in Wirral and is being run under the auspices of national organisation Music and the Deaf, and funded by the Alliance and Leicester, West Kirby Lions Club and the Community Foundation for Merseyside.

Music and the Deaf specialises in working with deaf children of all ages and is led by professional musicians who are deaf themselves. The workshop will be held on Friday May 2 at Wirral Schools' Music Service, Joseph Paxton Campus, 157 Park Road North, Birkenhead.

The day will include workshops and tuition, and culminate in a performance. Up to 35 deaf children aged 4 - 11 from schools all over Wirral will be taking part.
