Olusegun Adetunji has been named National Student Employee of the Year in recognition of his achievement in combining his studies at Liverpool Hope University with a part-time job at Wirral Council.

His bosses at the council were so impressed with his work as a systems developer that they nominated him for the award and now – after he graduated with a first-class degree in information technology – he has been offered a full-time job with the authority.

Olu said: “Winning this award has helped to boost my self-confidence and also encourages me to continue to work harder in every activity I am involved in, be it work or play.”
