Welcome To Wirral
Cycling and Walking to School
Wirral Council are constantly working to improve Wirral’s transport and a big part of this is cutting congestion and pollution. Encouraging parents and children to walk or cycle to school not only helps to free up the roads at peak times, it also helps protect our environment, improve the health of our children and promotes road safety.
Working closely with schools we have already set up walking buses at 26 schools, with many more planned. A walking bus is where numbers of school children meet up and are supervised on the walk to school by volunteers.
For more information on walking buses or to set one up at your school, email streetscene@wirral.gov.uk or contact the School Travel Plan team on 0151 606 2004
