Wirral's contractor is out on our streets daily, cleaning spillages, general street cleansing and clearing fly tipping. We have a team of 93 ‘on foot’ street sweepers and 12 machines, 6 large and 6 small cleaning 5000 streets every week. 130 tonnes of litter including fly tipping collected is each week which includes 6,500 bags of litter collected each week!
It's really important that residents and visitors realise that throwing rubbish on the streets is not acceptable and costs the Council an enormous amount of money to clear every year. Whether it's a crisp packet, cigarette end or banana skin it's all litter and should be placed in a bin or taken home.
