Welcome To Wirral
Public Conveniences
The Department of Regeneration currently operate 10 traditional public conveniences in the borough with a new facility being built at Leasowe Common which is due to open before Summer 2007. All facilities are either staffed or serviced regularly during the day by a mobile cleaning team. On a regular basis all sites are deep cleaned using a steam cleaner.
Between September and March the opening times are generally 9am to 5pm. Between the months of April and August closing times for coastal sites are extended to 6.30pm. Exceptional circumstances may dictate that some sites have to be opened later and closed earlier that the times stated.
Generally sites located in or by retail areas are open Monday to Saturday and Coastal sites are open Monday to Sunday. Every effort is made to keep the coastal sites open during the festive holidays including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New years.

Alternative facilities across the Borough
Wherever possible the Council will allow the public to use any conveniences that are freely accessible or that are located in freely accessible public areas in Council buildings. Council buildings include town halls, libraries, leisure centres, One Stop Shops and Information centres located at the various country parks. A list of accessible facilities can be provided on request.
Private Provision
Private retailers and developers are increasingly recognising the value of providing good clean and accessible conveniences for customers. A number of major superstores and shopping precincts and large shops provide excellent facilities for customers and for the public. The Council appreciates those retailers that recognise the value of making such provision available for the general public and are keen to consider requests to include details of any such facilities on this web site.
