Abandoned vehicle
If a vehicle is abandoned near your home, in the first instance call the police on 709 6010 and ask for Wirral Control (this is to check whether the vehicle is a stolen vehicle and therefore a police matter).
What action will be taken?
The Council will contact the Police and the DVLA to trace the owner of the vehicle. The vehicle will be checked by an environmental enforcement officer and labelled for removal. The owner of the vehicle will be informed by letter, and requested to remove the vehicle from the highway. After a period of seven days unless claimed the vehicle will be destroyed. Legal proceeding may be taken against the owner of the vehicle, to offset Council costs.
