Complaints, comments and compliments

Whether it's good or bad, the Department of Adult Social Services wants to hear your views on its services for vulnerable people in Wirral.

The Department of Adult Social Services is here to make sure that the social care needs of people in Wirral are met. We recognise that we cannot help everyone though, and have concentrated on those who need it most. We maintain high standards of service, but recognise that mistakes may occasionally happen. We genuinely welcome Complaints, Comments and Compliments as they help us find out what we do well and what we need to do better. You can make a Complaint, Comment or Compliment in a number of ways:

  • tell any member of the Council
  • contact the Quality Assurance Unit
  • Complaints Comments and Compliments Feedback Leaflet  (see Related Links)

 Comments and complaints are treated in confidence and will not adversely affect services you are receiving or may be entitled to.

Do you require help in making a complaint?

If you need help to make a complaint or to express your views, you can approach a number of Independent advocacy agencies. All complaints have to be dealt with in a particular way and sometimes may involve three stages. We will send a full explanation of the complaints process when you contact us.

The Local Government Ombudsman can also investigate complaints about Social Services; although they normally request you go through our complaints process first. They can be contacted at:

Complaints about services not run by the Department of Adult Social Services such as independent Residential Homes, Day Care provision and Domiciliary Care agencies, should be dealt with through the providers own complaints procedures.

If you're not sure how to go about this, let us know and we can help. You can also copy any concerns to the Quality Assurance Unit. Any concerns can also be passed to the Commission for Social Care Inspection who are responsible for making sure all such services are run properly. You can contact the Commission by writing to;
