Allowances/ Disregards
The following will be allowed for or disregarded before charges are calculated (a disregard is income ignored):
- War pensions (£10 will be disregarded)
- Disability Living Allowance higher or middle rate (only standard charge of £7.27 taken from this benefit)
- Attendance Allowance (only standard charge of £7.27 taken from this benefit)
- Mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (fully disregarded)
- Benefits paid for children
- All earnings from paid employment
- Any housing costs such as mortgage and rent that are net of housing benefit
- Any Council Tax payable net of Council Tax benefit
- Community alarm systems
- Respite care or privately arranged care related to a disability
- The additional costs as a result of disability. Appropriate evidence will be required to confirm costs.
For those people receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA), at the higher or middle rate, or Attendance Allowance, these benefits are excluded from the financial assessment. Instead Wirral Department of Adult Social Services requests a standard contribution of £7.27 from these benefits or £10.85 if a person is in receipt of a night sitting service.
In addition people who use our services will be required to pay a contribution towards the cost of those services up to a maximum of 30% of their assessed Net Disposable Income (NDI).
