Care in your home

Domiciliary care services

Subject to assessment of need, Home care can provide assistance with tasks related to daily living. People may need help for a short time until you can manage for yourself or on a more permanent basis.

Domiciliary care services offers help with a range of everyday tasks, such as:

  • getting up and going to bed;
  • dressing;
  • preparing drinks and meals;
  • paying bills and collecting pensions;
  • shopping;
  • help with essential household tasks;
  • help with bathing;
  • help with toileting/continence care; and
  • monitoring of prescribed medication.

Registration

By law, domiciliary care services have to be registered and inspected. The Commission for Social Care Inspection are the government organisation that does this.
