Welcome To Wirral
Moving into a home
A guide has been put together to help you find out and make choices about care services, residential and nursing homes in Wirral. It aims to help you either find the right support to help you stay in your own home or look for a place in a residential or nursing home. It explains how to get an assessment for community care services from the Department of Adult Social Services and what support they can offer you if you are found to be eligible for services.
There is also a section for carers who need help to take a regular break, or to go on holiday or in an emergency. The services listed in the directory are available to people aged over 18 who are assessed as having social care needs. This could be someone who has a disability, an illness or is generally frail. You do not have to go through Department of Adult Social Services to arrange care in your home or moving to a residential or nursing home if you are able to arrange and pay for it yourself. Although, It is always advisable to seek advice from the Department of Adult Social Services to help you make the right choice to meet your needs.
