Welcome To Wirral

Adoption

What we do:
Wirral Council is committed to ensuring that children grow up as part of a loving family from childhood through to adulthood.

A range of services and resources are provided by the council to help families to care for their own children.

But where this is not possible we aim, through our Adoption Service, to find permanent alternative families who will give the child the highest standards of care and opportunities in their life.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people to adopt children who have a variety of individual needs. This means that we are looking for people from all walks of life – from different communities, cultures and backgrounds – to provide permanent new families for children in Wirral.

You might already have children, or have no children of your own, be single, a couple that is unmarried, married or in a civil partnership, a homeowner or living in rented accommodation – there is someone for everyone. What matters is the quality of care you can provide for a child who is waiting for a new family.

What we provide

Wirral Adoption Service covers all aspects of adoption ranging from recruiting adopters, finding families for children, preparing and assessing potential adopters, preparing the child for adoption, and providing information and support to children, young people, birth families and their adoptive families.

Interested? If so, you can contact us by pressing the button at the top of the page requesting a service, or emailing us to deborahkenyon@wirral.gov.uk or telephone us on (0151) 666 5653.
