Welcome To Wirral
Accessibility Strategy for Wirral
In accordance with the Special Needs and Disability Act (2004), all Wirral schools should have a written Access Plan, which describes how they plan to increase access to their building, their curriculum and the information they give out.
The Co-ordinator for pupils with Medical and Physical Needs gives training to schools on how to write and develop these plans and maintains an accurate file of plans received.
Wirral’s Accessibility Strategy has a vision that “over time every school will be able to offer a more inclusive learning environment which given children with different needs the opportunity to learn together”.
In terms of physical accessibility, many primary and secondary schools are now fully accessible, with more building work planned for the future. Full details of acessibility can be obtained from the Medical/Physical Needs Team.
