Brief description of service:
- Matching volunteers to disabled children and young people to help them access community social and leisure activities
- Run a weekly inclusive youth club for disabled and non-disabled young people aged 11+
- Volunteers are recruited, vetted and trained, then matched with an individual child or young person, taking them out for a few hours per week or fortnight, to the cinema or swimming, etc. Volunteers’ out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed but families are asked to cover their child’s expenses. There is a waiting list for this service.
- The club is held on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm and is staffed by paid youth workers and volunteers. Young people can usually join immediately after their 1st visit but sometimes there is a waiting list.
- Professionals and organisations can make referrals and families can self-refer.
