Brief description of service:
PSS Wirral Impact works with children and young people who live with the consequences of parental problematic drug or alcohol use. We offer one to one and group work support. The one to one work is often about helping children back into school and about children’s feelings about themselves and others and about helping them to build a resilience to their experience. The group work is a mix of informal education and fun/challenging activities. All the work is framed by the 5 key outcomes from Every Child Matters.
The project works with parents challenging their lifestyle and offers therapeutic and practical support to grandparents and other carers. We also act as consultants to other professionals in the field and work at strategic level to develop services for this hard to reach and socially excluded client group.
