Financial support, guidance and advice are available from a wide range of sources.

Funding Search Facility

The National Lottery
Over £13 billion has been raised so far for the National Lottery's six causes.

UK Sport
Supports talented men and women in sports where we compete as the United Kingdom.

Big Lottery Fun
The Big Lottery Fund distributes half of the money for good causes from the National Lottery. It replaces the New Opportunities Fund and the Community Fund.

Awards for All
A lottery grant scheme aimed at local communities issuing grants of between £300 and £10,000. Funds can be used for sports events, training courses, publicity materials and start up costs. All things that sports clubs are looking to develop, however it has to be for new things that the club would like to do. The Football Foundation
Oversees investment in grassroots, Community and Education football

Junior Kit Scheme provides up to £300 to purchase a football kit. Clubs/schools must be Football Foundation Charter Standard Club. Team members must be under 16 years of age. For more information please ring the Help line on 0800 277 766, application forms can be downloaded from the football foundation website.

Grass routes football primarily supports organisations who wish to build, develop or refurbish facilities in order to sustain or increase participation.

Community Funding are available for community coaching programmes, social inclusion programmes etc.

Inclusive Fitness Initiative
Promotes and supports opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in physical activities.

Foundation of Sports and the Arts
Uses income generated by the Football pools promoters to give grants to a wide range of projects, where there is clear beneficial impact across the community.

Evidence of active fund raising is required, and the involvement and commitment of local people in trying to help themselves.

Sportsmatch
A grassroots sponsorship incentive scheme which matches commercial sponsorship, pound for pound. Any not for profit group can apply e.g. sports clubs, voluntary groups, charities and individuals. Sports match priority groups are women and girls, ethnic minorities, disability groups, schools, youth and areas of deprivation.

SportsAid
Provides direct financial support to sports men and women between 12 and 18 years old. For more information click here or visit the website www.sportsaid.org.uk

Wirral Sports Council
Wirral Sports Council give sports grants to individuals and clubs in the Wirral. Application requests and criteria required can be made via the Secretary on (0151) 666 5546. Funds are advertised through the local newspapers in annually in August.

Merseyside Sports Council
Merseyside Sports Council will be distributing a bursary system for individuals within the Merseyside area. This system is yet to be finalised, for further information please contact Katie Bull on (0151) 231 5239.

Local Network Fund for Children and Young People
The aim of the programme is to provide grants to organisations working with children and young people under 20 years of age (or up to 25 with learning disabilities). Provides grants from £250 up to £7000.

Active Sports Development Programme
Funded by the lottery and Exchequer funding, this programme was part of Sport England's More People Programme. Sports involved in this programme are Basketball, Cricket, Girls Football, Swimming, Tennis, Netball, Hockey, Athletics, Rugby Union and Rugby League.
