Welcome To Wirral
Jobs and the Local Economy
The Council believes that one of the single most important things it can do is to create an environment which helps to secure and develop employment opportunities for the people of Wirral. The Council will therefore:
- Continue to support its inward investment agency Wirral Direct in its efforts to maximise the number of new jobs being created by firms re-locating to Wirral. We will also support Business Link, the Council's business agency, which aims to help people start new businesses and support existing companies to expand and employ more local people.
- Work closely with Wirral Investment Network and other local agencies to establish an environment in which businesses can grow and flourish.
- Ensure that all business support measures in Wirral are focussed and co-ordinated
- Through initiatives like EuroWirral, take every opportunity to secure inward investment by boosting economic and social links with the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral's partners in Europe and around the world.
- Continue to make the most of grants available which enable us to bring derelict and under-used land back into use.
Key actions for the future:
The Council and its partners are soon to publish Wirral's Economic Regeneration Strategy, which aims to strengthen our links with neighbouring local authorities and other key agencies to attract new jobs and prosperity to Wirral.
Wirral International Business Park, off the A41 at Bromborough, is an example of a regeneration project that will continue to provide new jobs for Wirral residents. Its success to date has led the Council to seek more funding to expand the project further.
