Housing Development Schemes
In order to deliver quality and choice across all housing sectors in Wirral there is a need to make available a range and mix of accommodation for all residents. This is being achieved by working in partnership with key stakeholders, including local communities, Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) and private property developers to deliver new, decent and affordable homes for rent, sale and shared ownership across the Borough.
It is important that new homes contribute to revitalising local housing markets, the local economy and assist to maintain balanced communities.
The partnerships have successfully delivered 374 properties since 2005 with a further 72 planned for completion in 2007/08.

Wirral’s Housing Strategy has strong links to Wirral’s five year Supporting People Strategy which also incorporates the Supported Housing Strategy. The Supporting People Strategy sets clear priorities to provide suitable accommodation for residents with learning disabilities, mental health issues and for older people, but will also seek opportunities to provide accommodation for other client groups. This approach enables the Council to effectively target resources towards those most in need.
The Council works in partnership with key stakeholders, for example, Registered Social Landlords, to build new or refurbish existing properties to provide supported housing schemes. The schemes provide residents with independent homes and a suitable level of support to meet their individual needs.
The partnerships have successfully delivered over 70 individual supported housing units since 2005, with a further 105 planned in 2007/08.
