Handy Person Scheme
The Wirral Handyperson Service provides minor repairs and adaptations to elderly, vulnerable and/or disabled people. Promoting independence. Housing association tenants can be eligible for assistance, although the types of work that can be carried out may be restricted.
How much does it cost?
Most clients will receive a visit from the supervisor free of charge and a risk assessment will be carried out.
Each job is limited to two hours. The cost being £5 for the first hour and £10 for any subsequent hour.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms are supplied and fitted free of charge.
All the Handypersons are fully qualified and offer a practical and professional service. All staff are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau (police cleared) and carry picture identification. A password system is available on request for your peace of mind
What jobs can be undertaken?
Our Handyperson can do small jobs:-
- Grab rails
- Stair rails
- Keysafes
- Door Adjustment
- Repairing loose carpets
- Changing light bulbs
- Fitting smoke detector/Carbon monoxide alarms.
- Securing loose cables
- Changing Tap washers
- Moving Furniture
- Replacing toilet seats
- Fitting door locks and chains
Appointments are made with some flexibility but we do not run an emergency service.
Works that are not included:-
- Any gas related works
- Any electrical work
- Decorating
- Gardening
- Painting
- Cleaning Gutters
