Welcome To Wirral
Housing and Employment Link Project
The Housing and Employment Link Project (HELP) is a scheme designed to help people who have recently found work but do not have a suitable home in which to live.
Access to a decent home and the setting up of a home can be a barrier to gaining and staying in work.
To help tackle this problem, the Council’s Regeneration Department has secured finance from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) to help and support individuals within the six priority neighbourhoods of Wirral which are Birkenhead, Bidston, Leasowe, Seacombe, Tranmere and Woodchurch to gain employment and a decent place to live.
The HELP scheme offers a “one stop shop” service by offering a range of specialist help to people including:
- Arranging accommodation.
- Possible assistance with a Deposit.
- Assistance with rental payments for up to 3 months.
- Providing furniture packages to help clients set up their home.
- Providing general advice and assistance on a wide range of housing and employment related issues.
- Provide Welfare Benefit advice and support where required.
- Linking in with support agencies such as the Tenancy Support Team and Black Minority Ethnic Support Services.
- Working closely with Wirralhomes, Registered Social Landlords and Private Accredited Landlords to help secure suitable accommodation for users of the scheme.
- Linking in with available schemes that can assist with maximising access and opportunities within the private rented sector such as the Tenancy Deposit Guarantee Scheme and the Landlord Accreditation Scheme.
