Wirral Home Improvement Agency

What is the Home Improvement Agency?

The purpose of the Home Improvement Agency set up by the Wirral Council is to help elderly, disabled or low income households whose homes need repair or improvements, but who find it difficult to organise the work. The Agency will arrange to get the work carried out with the minimum of fuss.

What problems will be tackled?

Wirral Home Improvement Agency offers a complete package to enable elderly, disabled or low income householders, to improve or repair their homes, including:-

Comprehensive advice on the client's housing needs and the options available.

  • Help to decide what work needs to be done and to arrange for it;
  • Advice on the best way to pay for the work;
  • Help with completing paperwork/forms etc.;
  • Assist in selection of a builder and organise payments; and
  • Deal with problems that may arise during the course of building work.

What will the service cost me?

All advice is free.

A charge may be payable if the Home Improvement Agency acts on your behalf to arrange and supervise the building work. However, if the work is eligible for grant aid, there may be no extra cost to the client.
