Welcome To Wirral
Private property voluntary acquisition
If your property or land is to be acquired by the Council because it is located within a clearance area or other regeneration scheme, then the Council will first seek to acquire this by mutual agreement with the owner(s)
The Council will pay the current ‘market value’ of the property, at the time it is valued by a Council Valuer. As with buying and selling properties on the open market, the valuation will be dependent on many different factors such as the property type, location, size and condition. For valuation purposes, the effects of the ongoing scheme will not influence the purchase price.
You may also wish to appoint an independent agent to act on your behalf for the negotiations. The reasonable costs incurred by the agent will be reimbursed by the Council. Reasonable conveyancing costs associated with the sale of the property to the Council will also be paid. It is recommended that you discuss with the Council any potential claim relating to costs likely incurred prior to your engaging any professional help.
